Move Up Cyclocross Training Series 2018
This is a 10-week training series focused on giving riders a chance to improve their skills and get in some high quality training! We will utilize the land surrounding Raytown BMX. The course will be creative, fast, and technical to ensure a challenging and fun experience. In addition, B-racers will have an opportunity after their race to work on various skills and drills with coaches Kent Woermann and Garrick Valverde.
Every Wednesday starting August 22nd through October 24th.
Schedule of Events:
5:00pm – Course opens for warm-up* & registration
5:35pm – B-race start (25 minute race)
6:05pm – A-race start (40 minute race)
6:10pm – Skill clinics begins (30-40 minutes)
* We’ll do our best to get to the venue early for course setup and have everything ready for on-course warm-ups to begin at 5:00pm. We also ask that riders participating in the A-race do not warm-up on course while the B-race is underway.
There are sometimes porto-johns available, but don’t count on them being there. There is a Minit Mart Gas Station .5 miles away at the corner of Westridge and 350 Hwy.
Entry Fee and Registration
$10.00 per day
Registration will open at 5:00pm.
All racers must present a valid USAC license or purchase a 1-day license ($10.00). Riders using 1-day licenses will need to purchase a new license for each day they participate. If you’re going to race CX and participate in the majority of these events we recommend purchasing an annual license (~$70.00). All forms will be on-site. All USAC rules apply.
Practice Race Guidelines
There are no points or prizes available, just good old fashioned fun and some coaches to help you improve your game. We encourage racers to go hard and push their limits, but always respect your fellow racers and remember this isn’t one of those super serious races with $20 bucks and a bottle of olive oil on the line…
We won’t be using race numbers or submitting any official results, but we will try to keep some unofficial results going as best possible. These results are purely for fun and so riders can track how they’re stacking up against the other regulars who show up to the clinics. After the race we’ll post the results online if folks are into that sorta thing.
Planned Course Features:
Because this is a shorter course, we’ll be putting an emphasis on technical features that challenge your handling skills. We’re estimating the course will be a little over 1 mile long, so you’ll get plenty of chances to tackle every obstacle during your race! Here’s what we’re planning to include every week:
- Spiral of death
- Regulation height barriers
- Short barriers
- Maybe a little gravel
- Lots of switchbacks!
Skill Clinic Curriculum
Each day we’ll cover a different topic focused on helping you improve your cyclocross skills and knowledge. This will take place on an open section of the field during the A-race. Example items we’ll cover:
- Linking turns
- Tire pressure
- Manuals (popping your front wheel up)
- And more!
